New JBL developments for Interzoo 2008

JBL Biotopol C:

JBL PhosEX Rapid

Liquid, simple, effective: algae-promoting phosphates are absorbed in just a few hours and filtered out. Specially developed for freshwater aquariums, this answer to algae problems has no harmful side-effects! Using the new JBL Phosphate Test sensitiv even low levels of phosphates (but no less problematical) of 0.05 can be measured at last. According to the latest research results, (IFM Geomar in Kiel), algae bloom begins at phosphate levels as low as 0.06 mg/l.

JBL SilicatEX

As silicic acid often occurs in large quantities in mains water and leads to the growth of unattractive diatom algae, JBL has developed a special, highly active, silicate eliminator. Tests have shown that current silicate eliminators are not able to reduce the silicate level any lower than 0.8 mg/l. After lengthy research a substance has been found which not only has a higher absorption capacity but also achieves the desired end-effect of less than 0.4 mg/l silicate. A further advantage: phosphate is also eliminated, combating the growth of other types of algae at the same time. Together with the new JBL Silicate Test, combating diatom, which in the past was only possible using special ion exchange resin, is now simple thanks to this special filter material!

JBL AquaCristal Series II

The new feature of this UV-C water clarifier can be felt by everyone: the weight has increased considerably thanks to a completely newly-constructed additional inner part, reflecting the improvement. A strong, heavy inner section has been developed to provide even better protection for the plastic walls against aggressive UV-C radiation. Even if the appliance is used incorrectly, the external casing cannot be damaged in any way. The new Series II is available in 5 wattages, from 5 to 36 Watt.

JBL Silikat-Test

A newly developed test to identify the cause of the problem of diatom algae. The test measures levels of silicic acid from as low as 0.2 mg/l. Many aquarium keepers are unsure whether the brown algae coating in freshwater or saltwater is due to a high level of silicic acid in the water, or whether slimy algae is caused by low oxidation-reduction potential. This test quickly indicates the cause and shows what action should be taken: either with a special silicate eliminator (new: JBL SilicatEX) or by taking steps to increase the redox-potential.

JBL Phosphat-Test sensitiv

New highly sensitive JBL Phosphate Test, capable of measuring minimal levels of phosphate! Scientists from the IFM Geomar Research Institute have found that algae die when the phosphate level of the water drops below 0.06 mg/l. However, retailers and aquarium-keepers were then faced with the problem that many of the commercially available phosphate tests are not able to measure such low amounts. JBL recognized this problem and has developed a highly sensitive new phosphate test capable of measuring down as far as 0.05 mg/l. With this test everyone can now trace the source of their algae problems. In combination with an efficient phosphate eliminator like JBL PhosEX ultra, algae elimination has now become a whole lot easier.

JBL Floaty II

Even good ideas can still be improved: the handling features of the floating JBL pane-cleaning magnet have been improved even more. An angled edge protects silicon seams from accidental damage by cleaning too close to the join. The protruding edge also allows you to clean behind equipment or decorations. And in addition, handy indentations on the external part guarantee better grip.

JBL TerraTemp

During lengthy and constructive discussions with terrarium specialists, the subject of floor/area heating was discussed in detail. The result is the new JBL TerraTemp floor section heater in 3 differing sizes (20x25 cm, 29x34 cm, 40x40 cm). The most important problem to be solved was the build-up of heat under the glass. New, inconspicuous black spacers, 8 mm deep, allow sufficient air to circulate between the heating mat and the bottom pane of glass. JBL PhosEx Pond In response to the wishes of the majority of pond owners to fight algae without the use of chemicals, the JBL Research Department has developed JBL PhosEX Pond. Combating floating and thread algae on the basis of massively restricting the availability of nutrients: JBL PhosEX Pond quickly absorbs the algae nutrient, phosphate, reducing levels to below 0.06 mg, the minimum which algae need to grow (according to scientific tests carried out by IFM Geomar, Kiel). 500 ml JBL PhosEX Pond in 6000 liters pond water produce clear, algae-free water (250 ml/3000 l).
