JBL has the first 100 % sustainable marine aquarium
After much political discussion about animal welfare and sustainability JBL has completely rebuilt its 1000 litre reef aquarium. Instead of live rocks from reefs, pieces of concrete shaped to resemble the live rocks to the smallest detail were used for the reef structure. After a 3 week running-in time, coral expert Jürgen Wendel from the Palatine region inserted the captive bred corals. The water values are stable and in a few week fish species, bred in captivity, will be added. Daniel Hötzel, a coral breeder also based in Palatine region, is definitely going to contribute some anemone fish also bred in captivity. The remaining fish stock has not yet been decided.
