Product information

Nutrition for aquarium plants
Plants provide the aquarium with vital oxygen for your aquarium inhabitants, prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce germs. The plant fertiliser system supplies the plants with the main nutrient CO2 through the water. The plants absorb this and convert it into sugar and oxygen in photosynthesis with the help of light.

The difference between Bio-CO2 and pressurised gas cylinder CO2 systems:
Bio-CO2 systems are based on the biological process of yeast fermentation in which CO2 is produced. Here 2 bio-components are made to react in a bottle/reaction vessel. To replenish the system after about 40 days, the reaction bottle/vessel only needs to be refilled with water and the two bio-components.
In the CO2 pressurised gas cylinder system, the CO2 gas is present at about 60 bar in steel pressure cylinders. When they are empty, they can be refilled by a specialist retailer (reusable cylinders, M system) or they are disposable cylinders (U system) which are simply replaced.

It makes no difference to the plants where the CO2 comes from, whether it is from biological or pressurised cylinder systems. They grow much stronger as soon as a CO2 system is installed. The systems are of more concern to the aquarists, who have to decide whether they want disposable cylinders, refillable pressure cylinders or a pressureless bio system.

In addition to CO2 fertilisation, it is important you don’t neglect the other components that are necessary for healthy & vigorous growth of the aquarium plants: the right light (e.g. JBL LED SOLAR); sufficient fertilisation with minerals & trace elements (JBL PROFLORA FERROPOL); preferably a root fertilisation for strongly rooting plants with JBL PROFLORA FERROPOL ROOT/ The 7 Balls; the right water temperature (usually between 23 and 26 °C); and the absence of plant-eating fish.

FAQ
May the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products only be used for the aquarium?

Yes, the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products are designed exclusively for use in the aquarium. The gas contained promotes plant growth and works with fine precision so that even the smallest quantities can be supplied to the aquarium. Constant operation and the safety of the fish are thus guaranteed.

Should I use several check valves on my CO2 installation?

True to the motto, better safe than sorry, some aquarists install several check valves in the same circuit. For example, if you use the JBL PROFLORA direct inline diffuser or the JBL PROFLORA CO2 Count Safe bubble counter, you already have an integrated check valve. If you also use a separate check valve (JBL PROFLORA SafeStop), there may be problems with the opening of the check valves. This effect can be observed if, after the night switch-off or interruption of the supply with the controller, the addition does not restart automatically. Please note that, depending on the working pressure and the number of bubbles, a few minutes may pass between the start of the supply and the visible entry of CO2 into the aquarium.
Each spring in a check valve needs a certain pressure to be opened. Several springs can therefore interfere with each other and, depending on the distance between the two check valves, reduce the pressure at the spring to such an extent that it remains closed. Therefore, please always use only one check valve for your CO2 installation.

What is the minimum working pressure I need to use the JBL CO2 accessories?

All check valves or backflow protectíons from JBL require a working pressure of at least 0.6 bar for the valve to open. This feature can be found in the JBL PROFLORA CO2 TAIFUN SAFESTOP, COUNTSAFE and INLINE. The JBL PROFLORA TAIFUN diffusers also all already work with this pressure. A higher working pressure is not necessary, which is why all accessories also work with the JBL PROFLORA BIO SETs (except JBL PROFLORA CO2 STARTER BIO SET). Due to installation, a slightly higher working pressure than 0.6 bar may be necessary due to long hoses and other components, which is why the presetting of 1.2 bar is sufficient in any case.

How a CO2 fertiliser system works

With the help of a CO2 fertiliser system you can increase the CO2 content in your aquarium water and lower the pH value. You have the choice between a "Bio-CO2" system and a CO2 fertiliser system with a pressurised gas cylinder.

What factors lead to perfect plant growth?

Vigorous and healthy plant growth in the aquarium is of course never based on just one factor. It is always the interplay of light, heat, fertiliser and the main nutrient carbon dioxide (CO2).

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
