Product information

Water circulation
Aquatic plants grow better in the wild when they have access to seeping nutrition sources. The plants absorb their food from these sources. The gentle undergravel heating causes the warm water to rise and the cold water, full of dissolved nutrients and minerals, sinks to the bottom. This creates a thermal water circulation, which washes the nutrition directly to the roots.

Easy to install
Place the heating cable in even-sized loops on the cleaned bottom panel when beginning to set up the aquarium. Fasten the heating cable with the enclosed suction cups (slit suction cups). Bring the cold leads of the cable out of the aquarium and connect them to the transformer. You can easily recognise the transition between the cold lead and the heating cable by a marking line on the cable.

Hazard-free use
The heating cable is silicone coated and works with an energy-efficient 10 W transformer and 12 V extra low safety voltage for hazard-free use. The transformer needs to be mounted in a well-ventilated and splash-proof place. The undergravel heating results in a slight warming of the substrate, but should by all means be complemented by a heater (JBL ProTemp s) for warm water fish.

FAQ
Why doesn’t the heating cable warm up?

The substrate heating cables of the JBL ProTemp b series heat with radiant heat. Laying these cables on a table you wouldn’t notice any rise in temperature through temperature measurement. Only when the cables are installed below a layer of substrate will the warming of the substrate take place.

May I use the nutrient powder when I have installed an undergravel heating cable?

Yes, despite an undergravel heating cable you can use Volcano Powder because it is only applied very thinly and doesn’t completely cover the cable. The substrate above needs to be porous and coarse enough to enable the water circulation inside.

JBL ProTemp b10-60: What minimum grain size is needed for the substrate to prevent heat building up from the substrate heating cable?

If you have sand, a substrate heating cable is not recommended. It should be used for gravel sizes of 1.5 mm and over.

Can JBL Manado be used with a substrate heating cable additionally, or would that lead to overheating?

I don't see a risk of overheating as long as the substrate heating cable is installed properly with the spacers and is not placed directly on the glass pane.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.

JBL GmbH & Co. KG provides this service free of charge, and it is easy to activate or deactivate.
