Interzoo 2016 – Global Innovation JBL ProPond with the NEO INDEX®

In our first post “ Interzoo 2016 – Introducing JBL’s innovations at the world's leading trade fair “ we gave you an outline of JBL’s booth and new products. This post is to introduce you to our new product line JBL ProPond with the NEO INDEX®. It is the only physiological-nutritional concept on the market.

Even if your pond fish are always hungry and happy to eat any food they can get it’s important to get to grips with the subject of correct nutrition. Which factors are really important? It is not enough to select the right seasonal food. Proper nutrition needs to provide energy at the right time and in the right place. JBL’s scientists have summarised all these factors in an index, the so-called NEO index. For the first time ever JBL will give you with the ProPond foods over 100 articles which are created on the basis of the criteria animal size, age, function and water temperature, along with the corresponding protein/fat ratio.

NEO INDEX® literally means: natural, energy-optimised nutrition. It is based on the ratio of proteins to fats in the food. Looking at the season alone, the fish would only need half as much protein in winter (2:1) as in summer (4:1). But because not only the season (which means water temperature), but also the size and age of the fish, and food function (e.g. growth food) play determining roles, the NEO index has been developed, to indicate the right protein/fat ratio.

The decisive NEO INDEX®

How ProPond was developed

Normally manufacturers own machines with which they can produce products. This means that new ideas are limited by the technology of the production machines. JBL has chosen a different manufacturing approach. Scientists and pond fish experts develop the food concepts first and then they build a production line dedicated to the product and housed in a suitable building (see: PreOpening – JBL presents its new production hall )! This was a first at JBL! But it was by following this unconventional approach that it was possible to offer you (or your fish) the first food which precisely meets the varying demands of different pond fish. This is a huge step towards species-appropriate animal care and towards animal welfare in practice. We are as pleased about that as you are!

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
