The Caribbean in the Mediterranean Sea

In case you find a flight to the Caribbean too far or too expensive to experience colourful underwater fauna, the Mediterranean Sea located right at your doorstep offers much greater variety than is generally known.

Many tropical shrimp also have members of their family living in the Mediterranean!

For example, snorklers even find the multi-coloured species from the well-known genus, P. aegylios, which is usually found near the white neon coral (Anemonia sulcata), in the Mediterranean Sea. The species from the genus, Gnathophyllum, G. elegans, can also be seen in the Mediterranean Sea. One need only search – they can be found almost everywhere, as shown by the photo from Croatia (Pula) taken at a depth of just 5 m.

Karibik ist out – das Mittelmeer ist in! :-)
