JBL teams up with the sun

Roland Böhme could not resist the opportunity to install one of the state of the art solar panels on the roof himself. It is a matter of personal importance to him not only to talk about environmental measures but to quickly implement them, too.

With 284 new solar collectors JBL has again taken a big step towards its goal to self sufficiently produce all its own electricity. The last free roof of the production halls has now been equipped with cutting-edge photovoltaic technology (Q.ANTUM's world-record cell concept). These 6 busbar solar modules have set a world record for their outstanding output even at low radiation intensity, and supply a particularly impressive output of 91 kWp on a small surface area. This means that JBL can produce 76,340 kWh.

The overall output of all the units installed on JBL’s roofs now amounts to 450 kilowatt-peaks. And it won’t stop here. Roland Böhme has come up with a few more ways of actively improving environmental protection. From January 2019 100% of all electricity used by JBL will come from renewable energy sources and with this all the electricity in the JBL plant will be carbon dioxide-neutral!
