Clean and healthy water
Plant and food remains and metabolic substances lead to a deterioration of the quality of the water in the aquarium. Good water quality is necessary for healthy fish and plants. This can be achieved with aquarium filters. The filters suck in the aquarium water and remove the pollution and waste materials with the filter material from the water. Filters also offer an ideal habitat for bacteria which decompose harmful substances.

Easy to install
The external filter is completely equipped and ready to connect. The built-in quick-start device makes the filter easy to install without the need for manual priming. The filter media are included in the contents.

Easy to clean
Replacing the easy to reach pre-filter on a regular base means that you only rarely need to clean the rest of the filter. The large filter volume provides a high biological filtering performance involving several filter layers. The bio-filter balls inside have different diameters. This promotes the self-cleaning effect. Energy efficient and safe The patented hose connection block with a safety valve prevents water leakage when disconnecting the filter. JBL CristalProfi is TÜV tested.

Thanks to its research department and its worldwide expeditions into the habitats of the animals JBL is continuously setting new standards in product innovations.

FAQ
Can the filter be placed next to the aquarium?

No, as a rule this is not possible. Otherwise air will be sucked in and the water will come to a standstill. The filter will not work properly. If it is installed next to the aquarium, there should be a distance of at least 20 cm between the water surface and the top edge of the filter. When placing the filter in the aquarium cabinet, the difference in height between the water surface and the filter bottom must not exceed 180 cm (max. 120 cm for e402).

My filter won’t start back up again. What should I do ?

Please check the following: remove the pump head from the filter casing, remove the impeller cover and check whether the impeller is stuck. Remove the impeller and clean it and the impeller shaft. Afterwards reinstall the parts. Then shortly insert the plug into the socket. The impeller will run again and the magnetic force should be noticeable.

My external filter was loud or gurgled after it was installed.

After a new installation, the remaining air escapes from the filter media during the first 5-7 days. This causes “gurgling” or intermittent rattling. Additional problems may occur due to transmission of resonance. Please make sure that the filter has 4 rubber feet on the bottom and only has contact with the cabinet there and nowhere else. Test by placing the filter on a soft surface, making sure that the hoses don’t have any contact with the stand either. If you notice air in the filter, please check the hose on the inlet side for air pockets and streams of bubbles. This would give an indication of the source of the trapped air.

Can the output of an external filter decrease?

The motors in the pump heads of the JBL CristalProfi external filters are so-called synchronous motors, this means they rotate with a fixed speed that is dependent on the mains frequency, e.g. 3,000 rpm at 50 hertz.

Accordingly, an external filter can’t lose output. If the flow rate decreases, this is either due to soiled filter media or the formation of so-called biofilms, particularly in the hoses.

Please clean the hoses regularly with a hose brush to remove the biofilms. Flushing with warm water is not enough. At the beginning the cleaning interval may be increased.

Are the CristalProfis of the e series also suited for saltwater/brackish water tanks?

Yes, they can be connected to a saltwater/brackish water tank without hesitation.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
