The JBL ReptilDesert and JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps don’t work in the sockets of the Hagen terrarium canopy Compact Top.
With canopies with double sockets it can occasionally happen that the ReptilDesert and JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps don`t make contact with the current-carrying wire of one of the sockets. This is because of tolerances in the production of the canopy. In this case it helps to switch over the lamps from one socket to the other. We do not recommend installing energy-saving lamps containing UV-B inside canopies which are mounted on the top of the terrarium. They are not only too far away from the reptiles, but they also result in stray light loss through the wire gauze of the screen cover. With an all-glass canopy the filtering effect of the glass prevents almost all of the UV-B radiation from reaching the terrarium animals. The combination of the JBL ReptilDesert and the JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps with a JBL TempSet and a JBL TempProtect (as reflector) is the ideal installation inside a terrarium. This combination ensures that the activity supporting UV-A radiation and the UV-B radiation for vitamin D3 synthesis reaches the reptile adequately.
