Hi guys!
I’ve been The JBL Intern for three months now and continuing to really enjoy my work. Being in contact with like-minded people and constantly learning new things from them is also affecting how I go about my hobby.
Our social media channels keep us in constant contact with influencers or hobbyists, especially in the field of aquaristics. This gives us hugely diverse sources of inspiration for our own new projects.
Our project "The revision of the JBL PROSCAN app", has also taught me a lot about water care and now I know much better than before what to do if certain values are too high or too low.
As you may have noticed, we try to post a new product video every day. This procedure is also super exciting, as you’re constantly dealing with and learning about new products.
However, our workday consists of much more than making videos and being on social media.
Such issues as e-commerce or CRM are also an integral part of our job. Work here includes creating competitions, deals (#jbldeal), newsletters and push messages for our community. Additionally we’re involved with search engine advertising, and website optimisation on a daily basis.
Everything I learnt in my studies has been a great help, but I can’t help noticing the difference between theory and practice. Here, too, I’m learning something every day.
When your hobby becomes your job I think it’s much easier to understand and do things. You enjoy going to work and deal with topics that personally interest you. Parts of the job that may have seemed a bit dry at university immediately become more interesting when combined with an activity you enjoy.
I'm sure you’ve all heard the saying, "Turn your hobby into your job"!
And, really, why not?!
By the way, there’s good news! I'm thrilled I’ll be able to continue working for JBL alongside my studies, once my internship has ended. And… there’s another intern waiting in the wings! Watch this space!
