  • Why doesn’t the thermometer stick to the pane?

Please clean the pane thoroughly before you install the thermometer. Algae, biofilms and lime can prevent it from sticking. If the thermometer still doesn’t hold, there may be a problem with the suction cup. Due to a material defect some suction cups have bubble-like excrescences which prevent a correct hold. If you own such a suction cup, please contact our customer service, and provide a photo.

  • Can JBL PhosEx Pond Direct be used in stainless steel tubs?

JBL PhosEx Pond Direct attacks inferior stainless steels. Because an assessment of the used steels without technical data sheets is not possible, we recommend not using JBL PhosEx Pond Direct in stainless steel tubs.

  • Can I use several anti-algae agents together in the pond?

Each JBL anti-algae agent has a special purpose. It is therefore not necessary to use several AlgoPond products at the same time. Use AlgoPond Green to combat green water. Use AlgoPond forte for thread algae and all other types of algae. If you want to change the product, allow a time interval of 14 days, a water change of at least 50 % and filtering via activated carbon. The products StabiloPond and PhosEx may, of course, be used together with an AlgoPond algae agent according to the 1-2-3 algae-free principle.

  • I have used StabiloPond Basis and the water hardness has not increased.

StabiloPond Basis and KH raise the hardness, always and without exception. If the hardness hasn’t increased measurably there are only 3 possible reasons: _x000D_ _x000D_ - The pond has no filtering or circulation. Then a layering of the water occurs. The hardened water is located near the bottom of the pond. _x000D_ - The products were under-dosed_x000D_ - An increase in hardness occurred, but the values dropped afterwards quickly. _x000D_ _x000D_ The latter is mainly possible with high sludge quantities or with an algae plague. It is as if microbes and algae (have to) exist on the back burner when there isn’t enough stabilised water. Just like other organisms in the pond they suffer from a lack of essential minerals, like calcium, magnesium and especially hydrogencarbonates. Metaphorically speaking, they pounce upon the dissolving salts in StabiloPond Basis and KH and immediately start to assimilate them. These effects can occur in ponds with strong organic loads (sludge) and excessive algae blooms. In the latter case an algae treatment is absolutely necessary._x000D_

  • I have successfully combatted the algae, but they have come back. Why have they returned and how can I prevent it?

The main cause of algae in garden ponds is too much light and too many nutrients. When combatting the algae, the nutrients bound in them are released, but then during the next spell of fine weather with sufficient light these nutrients are in the pond again ready to feed the next algae attack. _x000D_ _x000D_ Preventive measure: JBL PhosExPond direct precipitates phosphates, they are removed from the water and from the algae. JBL PhosExPond filter permanently binds phosphates and limits their value. Having dealt with the algae JBL BactoPond can then be applied to minimize the nitrigen compounds. JBL SediExPond helps reduce the sludge at the bottom of the pond with its heterotrophic (all eating) strains of bacteria. _x000D_ _x000D_ JBL AlgoPond Sorb adds natural humic substances to the water and through its slight amber colouring reduces the excessive amount of light entering the garden pond. This in turn results in a significant reduction of algae growth.

  • Can I use JBL PhosEx Pond Direct directly after JBL AlgoPond?

Do not use JBL PhosExPond Direct directly after JBL AlgoPond Forte. It is better to wait for about 3-4 days, until the algae have been visibly reduced and the nutrients, stored in the algae cells, have been released. Only then is the phosphate precipitation with JBL PhosExPond Direct useful and effective. _x000D_ _x000D_ The same also applies to the control of thread algae with JBL AlgoPond Direct and the follow-up treatment with JBL PhosEx Pond Direct.

  • Why don’t the CO2 bubbles dissolve after reinstallation / cleaning?

After reinstallation the bubbles move only haltingly through the diffuser and sometimes merge into large bubbles. The device needs approx. 48 hours to set up! After that a bio-film will have formed on the surface of the device, allowing the bubbles to rise freely upwards. After the running in time the required bubble count will adapt itself for your aquarium.

  • How much time should pass after the application of JBL PhosEx Pond Direct before the UVC water clarifier can be put back into operation?

There is no general answer to this question. _x000D_ _x000D_ JBL PhosEx Pond Direct binds the soluted phosphates present by means of a chemical precipitation, which means a transformation into a non- (or under certain chemical conditions) water soluble form. How much time now has to pass before a UVC water clarifier is put again into operation strongly depends of the circulation rate, which means how long it needs till the whole water has passed the pond filter. _x000D_ _x000D_ Furthermore the existing current / water movement in the pond and the way that JBL PhosEx Pond Direct is added has to be taken into consideration. The time period is shorter with an extensive distribution, i.e. with a (plastic) watering can and with a good water movement than with an addition concentrated in one spot in a garden pond with slow water movement. _x000D_ _x000D_ Besides the distribution the water temperature is also relevant (though this only needs to be mentioned in passing here). _x000D_ _x000D_ The switch-off period needs to be at least twice as long as it takes for the pond water volume to completely circulate. To be on the safe side with the phosphate precipitation a turn-off time period of 48 hours can be considered as being sufficient.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event outside the context of a website, such as a new blog post, a competition or a voucher.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).
