How are « our »corals on the reefs of Florida doing ?

Since 2017 JBL has been supporting the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF) in Florida, which is painstakingly working to reforest the reefs being massively devastated by the increasing number of climate-related storms. In the course of the last 30 years the world has irreparably lost 50% of all its corals. In 2018 JBL went diving to see the state of the reef reforestation for ourselves and we will continue to support the CRF in the future.

The CRF has now issued a statement about the current state of affairs in its annual report. In a nutshell: They have restored 8,000 square metres of reef. In 2019 alone they planted the reefs with 32,300 endangered corals! JBL would like to thank the CRF team for their tireless efforts in conserving coral reefs! If you’d like to read the full report, you’ll find it here: https://www.coralrestoration.org/annual-reports-financials

Furthermore there is an interview with biologist Heiko Blessin in the REEFocus blog about the conservation of corals: https://www.coralrestoration.org/post/heiko-blessin-is-adjusting-the-scales-for-coral-reefs
