Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main nutrient for ALL plants, and during photosynthesis it is transformed into sugar (nutrient) and oxygen due to the joint influence of light with water. Without a CO2 fertilising system in the aquarium the CO2 content is very low and the plant growth is therefore limited.
Below you will find an outline graphic with examples to explain the structure and interconnections of all the CO2 components.
1. JBL ProFlora storage bottles
They contain compressed carbon dioxide (CO2), either with 500 g (as disposable or refillable bottles) or 2 kg content.
2. JBL pressure reducer
To reduce the bottle pressure of 50 bar to the lower working pressure of 1-1.5 bar, the pressure reducer has to be screwed onto the storage bottle. Both displays inform you about the remaining bottle pressure as well as the adjusted working pressure.
3. JBL pressure reducer for 2 aquariums

Supplies 2 tanks with CO2 out of only one storage bottle.
With the help of this adapter, pressure reducers for the JBL “u” system (disposable) can also be screwed onto refillable cylinders (“m” system). Pressure reducers of the “m” system also fit the disposable cylinders (“u” system) once the connecting nut has been removed.

6. High performance direct diffuser for CO2

For an economical and direct plant fertilisation: CO2 diffuser for external filters. Easy to install: connect to hose of external filter. Exact dosing: integrated bubble counter, no water backflow thanks to backflow stop.
7. Bubble counter with non-return system

Helps you count the added CO2 amount (countable in bubbles) conveniently and accurately. With a built-in check valve against the backflow of water.
8. Night switch-off

Cuts off the CO2 supply at night. This saves 50 % CO2, because plants only need CO2 during the lighting phase!
9. pH control unit
Products: JBL ProFlora pH-Control Touch
This pH computer displays the pH value and temperature of your aquarium water. By means of a solenoid valve (JBL ProFlora v002) it automatically controls the CO2 supply and thus sets the desired pH value. Healthy fish and perfectly growing plants are the result.
10. CO2 reactor
The reactor helps the CO2 gas to dissolve in the water and thus provide nutrition for the plants. No extra pumps are required to operate the JBL reactor.
11. CO2 permanent direct measurement

The liquid in the transparent container indicates the pH value and the CO2 content of the aquarium water through its colouration. Now you can decide whether to increase or reduce the CO2 supply.
