JBL PROFLORA CO2 REGULATOR ADVANCED
Pressure regulator with 2 pressure gauges for CO2 aquarium plant fertiliser systems

  • The pressure reducer reduces the cylinder pressure from approx. 60 bar (displayed on pressure gauge 1) to a low 1.2 bar working pressure (displayed on pressure gauge 2), so that the CO2 supply can be easily regulated
  • Screw the pressure reducer onto the pressurised CO2 cylinder and regulate the amount of CO2 added at the fine needle valve
  • The pressure reducer fits disposable CO2 cylinders (U system) and refillable cylinders (M system). By unscrewing the knurled nut (W21.8x1/14) with an Allen key, the pressure reducer fits the M10x1 thread of the disposable cylinders
  • Very high quality design: anodised aluminium, precisely CNC milled in titanium colour. Reliable sealing washer instead of O-ring
  • Package contents: 1 CO2 pressure reducer with 2 pressure gauges (for working & cylinder pressure) for refillable cylinders, with unscrewable adapter - then suitable for disposable CO2 cylinders

Product information

Easy to install
Screw the fitting onto the refillable or disposable CO2 cylinder. Connect the pressure reducer through a hose to a bubble counter/check valve and then to the diffuser/reactor in the aquarium. Adjust the number of CO2 bubbles on the fine needle valve. The CO2 permanent test provides feedback as to whether the amount of CO2 added is correct.

Safe to use
The pressure reducer is equipped with a safety relief valve, which provides a safe release of working pressure (in case it has been set too high) without damaging the fitting. The diaphragm control of the pressure reducer guarantees absolute reliability.

Tip: Can be easily converted to a disposable cylinder system by unscrewing the knurled union nut with an Allen key.

Function of the pressure reducer (pressure regulator): To reduce the pressure from the pressurised gas cylinder, a pressure reducer is screwed on. It reduces the 50-60 bar cylinder pressure to a working pressure of approx. 1.2 bar. These 1.2 bar are then dosed by a small handwheel (fine needle valve) so precisely that individual CO2 bubbles can be seen and counted in the bubble counter connected. The cylinder pressure and the working pressure are indicated on pressure gauges on this pressure reducer. These displays are not strictly necessary, as - unlike with diving cylinders with compressed air - the cylinder pressure does not slowly drop, and you do not need to be warned when the cylinder is running low. Instead, the pressure remains at its maximum pressure and then drops to zero in a very short time. So, unfortunately, there is no slow decrease of the cylinder filling pressure. The working pressure would only be important if it needed to be adjusted, though this is normally not necessary.

FAQ
Do you need a tool to assemble the pressure reducer?

No, a tool is not required and should not be used under any circumstances. The use of a tool can lead to damage. You can mount the pressure reducer on the CO2 cylinder with your hands. Turn only until you feel resistance and then turn about half a turn more. This way the pressure regulator fitting is hand-tight. A short hissing sound will be heard when attaching the fitting to disposable cylinders.

Is a tool needed to adjust the CO2 quantity?

No, a tool should never be used. The use of a tool can lead to damage. There is a thin spike at the tip of the needle valve. If the needle valve is closed clockwise and turned too tightly or with a tool, it may break off and damage the pressure regulator.

The working pressure on the pressure gauge does not change

When you adjust the working pressure, the CO2 addition needs to be running actively, otherwise the change will not be immediately visible in the event of a reduction. An increase is also visible without running CO2, but not immediately. That’s why you need to ensure that CO2 is added during the adjustment process for every reduction or increase.

The pressure reducer cannot be removed

Your system is probably still under pressure. Close the cylinder valve and remove the CO2 hose from the pressure regulator fitting. Open the regulating screw and release the pressure still present in the pressure regulator until both pressure gauges show 0 bar. Loosen the connecting nut of the pressure regulator fitting from the cylinder valve.

Do the pressure reducers meet the current requirements for safe handling?

When dealing with compressed gas systems, the safety of the user is paramount. That is why it is a matter of course at JBL to achieve the perfect balance between the highest manufacturing standards and precision. The CNC-milled pressure reducers ensure an exact fit. Internal flat seals mean long service life and robustness. Our internal quality control for each batch ensures that any irregularities are noticed before delivery and that these items can be blocked from further use. Our product is therefore safe to use. Several online marketplaces sell pressure reducers that do not meet the requirements needed for years of safe operation in aquaristics. A short product lifetime and frustration are the results and we choose to spare you this. In addition to direct contact with the JBL team of experts through our Customer Service, you are entitled to the extended 4-year guarantee (JBL GarantiePlus) from JBL.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.

JBL GmbH & Co. KG provides this service free of charge, and it is easy to activate or deactivate.
