With JBL ProTemp Coolers, you can reduce the water temperature by 2-4 °C at elevated ambient temperatures. To achieve this effect, please observe the maximum recommended aquarium volume for the product. Please note that the cooling effect only occurs during operation and that the system must have been running continuously for several hours beforehand. The air flow should be directed across the entire width of the aquarium and at a 45° angle to the water surface. If only part of the water surface is ventilated or the angle is set to 90°, the desired effect will not be achieved or will be greatly reduced. The housing can be rotated 360°.
The ProTemp CoolControl is connected between the power supply and the ProTemp Cooler. It is therefore not possible to connect two coolers to one controller. Each cooler requires its own controller.
After a new installation, the bubbles will only flow slowly through the reactor and will partially combine to form large bubbles. The device requires a running-in period of approx. 48 hours! Only then will a biofilm have formed on the surface of the device, allowing the bubbles to pass through to the top without any problems. After the running-in period, set the bubble rate required for your aquarium.
The JBL PROTEMP CoolControl was developed for use with the JBL PROTEMP Cooler and works perfectly with it. Due to different voltages, functionality with other devices cannot be guaranteed. Even the connector plug, which looks identical at first glance, may have different thicknesses. This can cause the third-party cooler to trigger unwanted switching and thus noise at the relay.
Yes, the new ProTemp CoolControl can also control the aquarium coolers from the previous Cooler 100-300 series.
Please clean the glass thoroughly before installing the thermometer. Algae, biofilms, and limescale can prevent it from sticking properly. If the thermometer still does not stick, there may be a problem with the suction cup itself. Due to a material defect, some suction cups have bubble-like growths that prevent them from sticking properly. If you have one of these suction cups, please contact our customer service with a photo.
