With JBL ProTemp Coolers, you can reduce the water temperature by 2-4 °C at elevated ambient temperatures. To achieve this effect, please observe the maximum recommended aquarium volume for the product. Please note that the cooling effect only occurs during operation and that the system must have been running continuously for several hours beforehand. The air flow should be directed across the entire width of the aquarium and at a 45° angle to the water surface. If only part of the water surface is ventilated or the angle is set to 90°, the desired effect will not be achieved or will be greatly reduced. The housing can be rotated 360°.
The ProTemp CoolControl is connected between the power supply and the ProTemp Cooler. It is therefore not possible to connect two coolers to one controller. Each cooler requires its own controller.
After a new installation, the bubbles will only flow slowly through the reactor and will partially combine to form large bubbles. The device requires a running-in period of approx. 48 hours! Only then will a biofilm have formed on the surface of the device, allowing the bubbles to pass through to the top without any problems. After the running-in period, set the bubble rate required for your aquarium.
Yes, the CoolControl from the previous series can also control the new ProTemp Cooler x200 and x300 (Gen 2) aquarium coolers.
The roller turbine ensures an audible air flow that is even and should not rattle or clatter. If such a problem occurs, this could indicate damage caused by a fall or heavy impact on the housing wall. Check that the roller turbine is correctly positioned and that the housing is properly assembled. If this is not the case, your ProTemp Cooler must be returned to the factory for inspection and repair via JBL Customer Service.
The roller turbine of the Cooler 200X or 300X conveys a large amount of air to ensure sufficient evaporation on the water surface and thus cooling. As with a room fan, this is not possible without noise, but it is quiet. To ensure quiet operation, the turbine is mounted on a ball bearing for smooth running. If loud noises occur during operation, please check the attachment to the aquarium rim/base. The vibrations are probably being transmitted to the base and can be eliminated by making small adjustments. If you notice strong vibrations on the housing, this can be remedied by turning the housing.
Please clean the glass thoroughly before installing the thermometer. Algae, biofilms, and limescale can prevent it from sticking properly. If the thermometer still does not stick, there may be a problem with the suction cup itself. Due to a material defect, some suction cups have bubble-like growths that prevent them from sticking properly. If you have one of these suction cups, please contact our customer service with a photo.
Our previous series and many commercially available products feature two to four axial fans (depending on the model). They look similar to PC fans. The roller fans used in JBL PROTEMP COOLERS are significantly quieter due to their design and generate a low-noise airflow. The single-axis drive further reduces noise. In models that use similar technology, the bearings are typically based on sintered bushings. The current PROTEMP COOLERS feature a high-quality ball bearing, additional damping provided by a special bearing, and thus a guaranteed more stable mounting in conjunction with a redesigned bearing in the roller fan wheel. Rattling and squeaking are now a thing of the past.
