  • Where do my algae come from?

    Algae problems in aquariums can never be attributed to a single factor or set of conditions, but are always a combination of various factors, including light, fertilization, water changes (specifically how often and how much), feeding, animal stocking, and, of course, the specific water values. According to evaluations carried out over many years, red algae, at least the classic brush and beard algae, occur in descending order with the following parameters: 1) Too little carbon dioxide (in 100% of the tanks measured); the pH value should always be in the slightly acidic range, depending on the carbonate hardness. 2) Elevated phosphate levels (above 90%); phosphate limitation using JBL PhosEx ultra often helps here. 3) Too little and too irregular fertilization (iron should always be detectable in trace amounts). 4) Too few water changes; weekly water changes of more than 30% are recommended for algae problems. 5) Too few fast-growing plants

  • Can I use JBL PhosEx Ultra and JBL NitratEx simultaneously in an internal filter?

    In principle, NitratEx and PhosEx Ultra can be used simultaneously. However, please note that this reduces the surface area available for the filter bacteria to colonize, which can affect the filter's ability to remove ammonium and nitrite.

    JBL NitratEx acts as an ion exchanger that is regenerated with table salt. 250 ml binds 9,000 mg NO₃.

  • Where in the filter should JBL NitratEx be placed?

    The perfect place for the nitrate remover pad is relatively high up in the filter so that you can quickly access it for reactivation. In JBL CristalProfi external filters, this means at the top in front of the filter outlet. At the filter inlet, the pad would quickly become clogged with coarse dirt and reduce the filter's performance. Please note that a sufficient layer of filter wool (JBL Symec or Symec XL) must be inserted in front of the NitratEx. After the pad, add a final layer as a cover layer in front of the filter outlet.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event outside the context of a website, such as a new blog post, a competition or a voucher.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
