JBL SediEx Pond consists of two components: active oxygen (comparable to JBL OxyPond) and heterotrophic (all-consuming) bacterial strains applied to carrier granules. Oxygen deficiency often occurs in the mud at the bottom of ponds, causing bacteria such as sulfate-reducing bacteria to develop, which excrete toxic hydrogen sulfide as an end product. In order for the bacteria in SediEx Pond to work, oxygen must first be introduced into the pond mud before the bacteria can begin their pond mud-reducing work. JBL SediExPond can be used all year round except during frost periods. Regular application every 3 months is recommended, especially in fall and spring
When applying the first component, the active oxygen is scattered over a large area of the pond and releases oxygen at the bottom of the pond. This promotes the work of the bacteria. During the decomposition process, mulm particles may rise and cloud the water for a short time. These can be removed from the water surface with a fine net.
