The hydrometer does not contain mercury. The liquid is an alcoholic solution with dye. The liquid is not toxic. Both ingredients are quickly broken down by bacteria in the aquarium. The dilution effect should also be noted. The silver beads are made of an iron compound and are therefore harmless. They should simply be sucked out.
With a reading accuracy of 0.0005 units, the hydrometer is extremely precise. The built-in thermometer, which displays temperatures from 9°C to 32°C, and the temperature correction scale ensure maximum accuracy. The density is determined within a range of 1016 and 1028
