In order for the JBL PROCLEAN AQUA IN-OUT COMPLETE to function correctly, a suction effect is required to pump the water out of the aquarium. Once the suction hose has been filled with water from the tap, the tap can be turned off. If the aquarium is higher than the water jet pump, it is necessary to continue running the tap water to create and maintain the suction. This will require a ratio of approximately 1:2 (aquarium water : tap water). This allows minor height differences of up to one meter to be overcome without any problems. For this reason, it is important that the drain and the aquarium are on the same floor. The creation of the suction effect depends on other factors: water pressure in the pipe, hose length, height difference, and any blockages in the flow caused by leaves or snails in the protective screens.
