Wasserparameter im Gartenteich im Jahresverlauf

Der Gartenteich unterliegt im Jahresverlauf bei einigen wichtigen Parametern regelmäßigen Änderungen. Die periodischen Veränderungen sind in der Grafik für einen nicht mit Fischen besetzten Teich dargestellt.

Lichteinfall und Temperatur sind für Gewässer in gemäßigten Breiten wie Mitteleuropa nicht ungewöhnlich. Im Winter kalt und wenig Licht, im Sommer warm und viel Sonnenlicht. Schaut man sich jedoch den Verlauf der Nährstoffe an, gemeint sind damit die im Wasser gelösten, messbaren Nährstoffe, so stellt man fest, dass diese im Herbst und Winter höhere Werte erreichen als im Frühjahr und Sommer. Woran liegt das ?

Mit Beginn der steigenden Temperaturen im Frühjahr beginnt das pflanzliche Leben im Teich, darunter auch die Algen. Pflanzen und Algen brauchen Nährstoffe. Diese nehmen sie aus dem Wasser auf und bauen sie in ihre Zellen ein. In der Grafik bedeutet der Begriff Phytoplankton nichts anderes als Schwebealgen, die stark wachsen und unser Teichwasser grün werden lassen. Der messbare Nährstoffgehalt sinkt. Es ist kein Wunder, dass bei Algenblüten Nährstoffe wie Phosphat im Wasser nicht nachweisbar sind. Sie sind vorhanden, jedoch in der Biomasse quasi versteckt.

Bei nicht mit Fischen besetzten Teichen kommt nach der grünen Phase der Schwebealgen (Phytoplankton) die rote Phase der Wasserflöhe und Ruderfußkrebse (= Zooplankton). Konkret heisst das nichts anderes als Zooplankton frisst Phytoplankton. Die Nährstoffe werden eine Stufe in der Nahrungspyramide weiter gereicht.

Bei Einsetzen von Kühlwetterphasen im Frühjahr/Sommer oder nach heftigen Gewittern stirbt das Zooplankton häufig ab und bildet Dauerstadien aus. Das Wasser wird klar, die Nährstoffe werden freigesetztm sind jedoch nicht oder nur ganz kurzzeitig im Wasser nachweisbar. Warum, wenn sie doch nach wie vor vorhanden sind ?

Es liegt an den Wasser- und Sumpfpflanzen, die im Frühjahr noch nicht so schnell wachsen. Diese nehmen nun die Nährstoffe auf und entziehen sie erneut dem Wasser. Soweit, so gut, jedoch gehören die Fadenalgen (als oft festsitzende Algen) ökologisch in diese Gruppe. Es ist aus diesem Grunde auch leicht verständlich, warum in der Mehrzahl der Fälle die Schwebealgenblüten ein typisches Frühjahrsphänomen sind, während die Fadenalgen eher später dominieren.

Im Herbst kehrt sich die Situation um: Die Organismen bereiten sich auf ihre Winterruhe vor, Algen und Pflanzen als auch Zooplankton sterben ab, die Nährstoffe werden wieder freigesetzt und damit nachweisbar.
