Product information

Ideal nutrition for plants
Having the right CO2 concentration in the water is hugely important for aquarium plants. Carbon dioxide is the plants’ main nutrient and it fully promotes their growth. Plants use CO2 for photosynthesis and this supplies the water with essential oxygen. They prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce germs.

Efficient enrichment of the aquarium water with CO2:
The CO2 gas enters the lowest module through the CO2 supply hose in the middle of the reactor. There it enters the bends of the CO2 reactor in bubbles (visible and thus countable) and rises upwards in a circle, like in a car park driveway. On this long path, the CO2 dissolves from the CO2 bubbles in the aquarium water. In this way, the CO2 system supplies the aquarium plants with their main nutrient, carbon dioxide.

Why don’t the CO2 bubbles dissolve completely?
On their way up, the bubbles release CO2 into the aquarium water, but at the same time absorb other gases from the water, because these gases are more concentrated in the aquarium water than in a CO2 bubble. Therefore, the CO2 content in the bubble decreases and, for example, the oxygen and nitrogen gas content increases. At the end of its journey through the CO2 reactor, it has clearly become less, but it only contains as much CO2 as the surrounding water and all the gases that are also contained in the aquarium water.

Extension
If the desired CO2 content is not achieved even though the bubble count has been increased, the reactor can be extended by adding further modules. This extends the path for the CO2 bubbles and more CO2 can be added. The only limitation is the height of the aquarium.

FAQ
May the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products only be used for the aquarium?

Yes, the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products are designed exclusively for use in the aquarium. The gas contained promotes plant growth and works with fine precision so that even the smallest quantities can be supplied to the aquarium. Constant operation and the safety of the fish are thus guaranteed.

What is the minimum working pressure I need to use the JBL CO2 accessories?

All check valves or backflow protectíons from JBL require a working pressure of at least 0.6 bar for the valve to open. This feature can be found in the JBL PROFLORA CO2 TAIFUN SAFESTOP, COUNTSAFE and INLINE. The JBL PROFLORA TAIFUN diffusers also all already work with this pressure. A higher working pressure is not necessary, which is why all accessories also work with the JBL PROFLORA BIO SETs (except JBL PROFLORA CO2 STARTER BIO SET). Due to installation, a slightly higher working pressure than 0.6 bar may be necessary due to long hoses and other components, which is why the presetting of 1.2 bar is sufficient in any case.

Why don’t the CO2 bubbles dissolve after reinstallation / cleaning?

After reinstallation the bubbles move only haltingly through the diffuser and sometimes merge into large bubbles. The device needs approx. 48 hours to set up! After that a bio-film will have formed on the surface of the device, allowing the bubbles to rise freely upwards. After the running in time the required bubble count will adapt itself for your aquarium.

The CO2 bubbles in the JBL ProFlora Taifun rise very quickly but do not decrease in size much. Large bubbles escape from the top of the Taifun at short intervals.

Please extend the JBL ProFlora Taifun by using extension modules (JBL ProFlora Taifun Extend). Too many bubbles are being added for this reactor and its overall height. The extension will extend the reaction path and improve the CO2 dissolution.

Why is CO2 such a good help when combating algae?

Algae are plants, but only very simple Algae are plants, but only very simple ones. CO2 fertilisation promotes the growth of the more complex plants and algae have no chance against them!

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
