JBL receives permission to take underwater pictures from Japan’s koi breeders

Japanese people are very polite but also often very particular. In the halls where the koi hibernate the strictest hygiene regulations apply and reaching into the water is absolutely forbidden. This successfully prevents the spread or the transmission of diseases. But JBL biologist Heiko Blessin wanted to take underwater pictures in the koi tanks with a large professional underwater camera. After some persuasion and the help of SCHUKOI and Hans-Jürgen Ninke from the koi-Kurier the koi breeders agreed and were absolutely thrilled after reviewing the results!

For the first time incredible underwater pictures were taken with the fisheye lens (15 mm) which show both the quality of the koi and the fantastic colours of the animals in side view and not, as usual, from above. The photo campaign has further intensified the friendly relations between JBL and the breeders. For their next European trip some breeders are going to take up JBL’s invitation to visit the production facilities of the JBL ProPond koi food in Neuhofen.
