From the Japanese volcano straight into the JBL packaging

Mount Aso, a volcano in southern Japan, is smoking and highly active. The soil around the volcano, as is always the case with volcanoes, is very fertile and, due to its structure, extremely porous. As this type of soil is ideal for planted aquariums, JBL has entered into a partnership with a Japanese company and is sourcing this volcanic soil in the form of small pellets for a new JBL Soil product. The name says it all: JBL PROSCAPE MT. ASO SOIL BLACK and JBL PROSCAPE MT. ASO SOIL BROWN

The high mineral content promotes perfect plant growth, whilst the incredible porosity provides additional habitat for bacteria that break down pollutants, which greatly enhances the filter capacity and ensures crystal-clear, healthy aquarium water. This JBL Soil has not been artificially enriched with fertiliser, but instead supplies aquatic plants with the natural minerals found in the volcanic soil from which it is derived. Although it is a natural volcanic substrate, it has no sharp edges and can therefore also be used for burrowing fish such as catfish, loaches and rays. The new JBL PROSCAPE MOUNT ASO SOIL is available in brown and (almost) black. It is available in 3- and 9-litre bags from specialist pet shops with immediate effect.
