Jak udržet krásné akvárium bez obtížných řas

Rozsivky tvoří hnědavé usazeniny na rostlinách, substrátu i dekoracích. Tvoří se ve vodě, pokud obsahuje více než 0,4 mg/l kyseliny křemičité / křemičitanů (SiO2).
Jejím zdrojem je nejčastěji voda z vodovodu. Kyselina křemičitá pomáhá rozsivkám budovat jejich kostru. Pro její odstranění je nutné ve vodě zlikvidovat kyselinu křemičitou a nechat řasy odumřít, popř. zabránit jejich dalšímu růstu.

Rozsivky nejsou toxické ani škodlivé. V jezerech Tanganjika a Malawi dokonce tvoří část potravinové základny pro cichlidy. Protože tvoří hnědavé usazeniny, jsou vnímány jako nehezké a a v akváriu nežádoucí.

Rozdíl mezi rozsivkami a modrými řasami
Obě skupiny vypadají velmi podobně. Mezi prsty ale můžeme cítit rozdíl. Modré řasy jsou i po delším třetí slizké, zatímco rozsivky drsnější.

Speciální filtrace
SilikatEx Rapid odstraňuje křemičitany ze sladkovodních i mořských akvárií. Tím se lze zbavit nežádoucích rozsivek (hnědých usazenin), které se často objevují po přidání čerstvé vody, protože jim tak odejmete jejich zdroj živin. SilikatEx Rapid také odstraňuje i fosfát a brání tak růstu dalších řas. Filtrační materiál vám pomůže zajistit životní prostředí odpovídající přírodnímu biotopu.

Does Silikat Ex raise the general hardness ?

When the silicate values are high, the measurable general hardness may in fact rise after Silikat Ex is used. This can be explained by the “masking” of the hardness-producing substances, calcium and magnesium, as a result of the silicates in the water.

How much silicate can be bound with one pack (400g) SilikatEx Rapid?

One pack (400g) can bind approx. 12,000 mg silicate.

Can I use JBL SilicatEX in the drinking water of the bathing tubs, too? Does this material release any substances into the water?? Could these be harmful to my lizards?

The raw ingredient in SilicatEx is normally used to remove arsenic from drinking water on a large scale in waterworks. Therefore, it can be assumed that there is no risk in this respect.

Does JBL SilikatEx have any effect on the carbonate hardness and/or the pH value?

Yes, especially in cases of overdoses JBL SilikatEx can reduce the carbonate hardness and thus indirectly the pH value.

This is especially relevant for aquariums with soft starting water and with marine aquariums. In such cases we recommend a parallel control of the carbonate hardness and if necessary also the addition of JBL AquaDur or JBL AquaDur Malawi/Tanganjika (both for freshwater).

What can be done about smear algae in saltwater?

There are two sorts of brown films in saltwater aquariums:
On the one hand it could be diatoms, which disappear on their own after a short time. In stubborn cases (a lot of silicic acid in the source water) there are two possible remedies: the use of JBL SilicatEx or the application of the synthetic resin MP 600, a strong basic ion exchanger. A mixed bed filter can also remove silicic acid from the source water. Reverse osmosis systems only help to a limited extent.
On the other hand it could be smear algae. Smear algae control needs quite a few words of explanation. Firstly: How can we distinguish between diatoms and smear algae?
A “feeling test” shows simply the difference: Diatoms feel rough, smeary and soapy, whereas smear algae feel soft, smeary and soapy.
The cause of smear algae is mostly poor water quality, which can’t be measured with a nitrate and phosphate test. An ORP measurement can be very useful here. The ORP measurement is a continuous measurement, which informs about the tendency in water quality. Rising ORP values show an improvement, dropping ORP values show a deterioration of the quality.
Example: An aquarium is not yet equipped with a flow pump. An ORP measuring indicates a value of 200 mV. The use of a flow pump creates water movement which whirls up and eliminates “dead zones” behind the aquarium decoration. The ORP value drops for a short time (whirled up mulm) and stabilizes afterwards at a higher level than before (the dead zones have disappeared). An improvement of water quality has been effected (with fewer reductive processes in the water). When additional flow pumps are used, their optimal positions can be determined by means of ORP measurements. The same can be done for the optimization of the filter positioning and with the deposition of silt at the bottom. These both influence the ORP value, but can’t directly be measured with commercial water tests.
If you raise the ORP value by about 150 – 200 mV, the smear algae will most probably disappear. The idea is to try out changes in the aquarium, evaluate the result with the ORP value, keep changing things until you reach the desired result.

Bin damit sehr zufrieden. Zieht Silikat in kurzer Zeit aus dem Becken. Ich empfehle nur beim auswaschen Handschuhe zu tragen,da es doch sehr stark abfärbt und man orangene Finger danach hat ;)

Anfangs hatte ich einen Silikatwert von über 6, mittlerweile ist er bei 1,2. Das Filtermaterial wirkt also! Einmal alle 1-2 Wochen auswaschen nicht vergessen!

Entfernt zuverlässig Silikat aus dem Aquarienwasser.

Als Langfristige Lösung bei stark belastetem Ausgangswasser allerdings doch ein teures Unterfangen. Da lohnt sich - je nach Beckengröße - durchaus die Anschaffung einer Osmoseanlage, die dem Leitungswasser sehr wohl den größten Teil an Silikat entzieht. Sollte der durchgelassene Silikatgehalt zu hoch sein, kann man spezielle Reinstwasserfilter nachschalten.

Co jsou zprávy PUSH? Webová oznámení jako součást standardu W3C definují rozhraní API pro oznámení koncovým uživatelům, která jsou zasílána na počítač a/nebo mobilní zařízení uživatele prostřednictvím prohlížeče. Oznámení se na koncových zařízeních zobrazují tak, jak je koncový uživatel zná z aplikací nainstalovaných v zařízení (např. e-maily). Na koncových zařízeních se zobrazují oznámení, která koncový uživatel zná z aplikací nainstalovaných v zařízení (např. e-maily).

Tato oznámení umožňují provozovateli webových stránek kontaktovat uživatele po celou dobu, kdy mají uživatelé otevřený prohlížeč – bez ohledu na to, zda uživatel právě navštěvuje webové stránky, či nikoli.
