JBL turns 60 - celebrations to follow …

60 years ago, JBL founder Joachim Böhme, father of the current general manager Roland Böhme, was fed up of sick fish! His hobby had developed into a pet shop, then into an ornamental fish wholesaler and then his fish became ill. No problem today, but 60 years ago it was a real disaster, because there were no ornamental fish remedies! Joachim Böhme thought back to his chemist training and concocted Europe’s first effective remedy against the white dot disease. The name JBL Punktol was coined from his initials J. B., the first letter of his location in Ludwigshafen and the white spot disease. Other products followed and over the course of 60 years the current JBL range, with over 1,500 articles, was created.

JBL would like to take this opportunity to thank all aquarium enthusiasts, terrarium keepers and pond owners as well as the specialist pet shop and pond trade for their great cooperation and loyalty to the JBL brand! JBL will continue to remain true to its philosophy of "Ahead through research" and will continue to work in a customer and service-oriented manner. For this is probably where the strength of the Palatinate company lies: With 190 employees, JBL has become a leading global player, without losing its ongoing personal contact to consumers and specialist dealers in the course of its expansion. General manager Roland Böhme and his team are proud of this and will do everything in their power to keep it that way!

JBL will celebrate this milestone at a later date, when people feel more like celebrating. The celebrations are to follow, but of course it's still JBL's birthday!
