Nutrition for aquarium plants
Healthy plants are important for every aquarium. Plants supply the aquarium with vital oxygen for the aquarium dwellers, prevent algae growth and remove pollutants.

Healthy plants = healthy fish
Healthy plants prevent algae growth, supply oxygen, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce pathogens.

For the plants to flourish the following demands need to be met:
Light as energy source for the photosynthesis of CO2, nutrients and trace elements as growth promoters.

JBL fertilisers supply the plants with all main nutrients and essential trace elements through the water. This way the plants can absorb all the required nutrients they need over the leaves and roots.
The capacity of a CO2 system depends on various factors. The carbonate hardness, the quantity and species of the plants and the strength of the water surface movement are decisive.

FAQ
Can I remove the pressure reducer of the JBL ProFlora u201 from the compressed gas cylinder u95, even if the cylinder has not yet been emptied and there is still pressure in the cylinder ?

No this is not possible. When removing the pressure reducer from full cylinders the carbon dioxide, which is under pressure, will escape and because of the volume expansion the cylinder and the armature will become freezing cold. Please do not remove the pressure reducer before the disposable cylinder has been completely emptied. Please also read the instructions.

The discussion, whether aquariums also work without CO2, is as old as modern aquatics itself. One thing is clear: aquatic plants need carbon for their growth.

Fertilization is not just fertilization Part 1

Unlike in natural waters, aquariums with fish mostly have a surplus of nutrients caused by feeding and the resulting fish excrement. Thus nitrates and phosphates in large (often too large!) quantities are available for the plants.
