The first day of the exhibition was awesome ( Hands On Terraristics: Easter Exhibition in the Animal Park Part 2/5 ). The TKK team had never seen so many people in the last 10 years. What special features will "Men's Day" have in store for us?
In this five-part series we’ll give detailed reports about the exhibition, the animals and our experiences. To highlight our cooperation with the Terrarienkreis Kiel (TKK), we have included the club members’ reports in journal form unedited to this post. We are always delighted to cooperate with passionate people, especially in this increasingly shrinking hobby segment.
Below you will find the original report by Philipp Kirchhoff and his team from Terrarienkreis Kiel:
Men’s Day (Saturday, 20 April 2019)
All the club members were still exhausted from the previous day. Not that this affected our motivation, of course. There was no time to unwind, because that morning, as we made our routine inspection round through the two halls it soon became clear that this would not be a normal 2nd day.
Even if past experience tells us that Saturday - the last chance to get your shopping done - is much quieter than the Easter public holidays themselves, this was not the case this year. Although the number of visitors was not quite as high, they never stopped coming. What was unusual on this day was that the men were the boldest and the readiest to get touchy feely with a tarantula. As always they realised that it was not as bad as feared and that on the contrary it was a great experience... thanks to the Terrarienkreis Kiel.
The Chairman, Philipp Kirchhoff, had another press event with the reporter from the Kieler Nachrichten, who raved about our giant African millipedes.
Our leaf insect (Malayan Jungle Nymph) Irmgard then made itself at home in the Chairman’s beard during the interview. After the "work" was done some of the club members went to the Easter fire in Osdorf to finish the day in a relaxed atmosphere. And on Easter Sunday we went back to work with renewed vigour.
